Alan Chin was born and raised in New York City’s Chinatown. He is a contributing journalist to many publications and an adjunct professor at the New School and Columbia's Journalism School. He is also a cofounder of Documenting Detroit, a community-based photojournalism initiative, and a publisher of photography books at Jet Age Books.
