While bigshot East Coast reporters explored the Republican National Committee’s impressively outfitted Reggie the (voter) Registration Rig yesterday amid the chaos of New York City’s Times Square, Michael Nicoloff of the Willamette Week in Portland, Oregon found a voter registration effort underway in his neck of the woods — a sort of Reggie writ small.

In a short but buzz-worthy piece, Nicoloff introduces five Portland women who formed an organization called Your Vote, On the Rocks. “To promot[e] their goals of ‘registration, education, libations and a voting nation,'” Nicoloff writes, the women scour local bars for young unregistered voters and sign them up.

At the risk of sounding tipsy, Campaign Desk hereby tips its hat to Nicoloff, for finding a solid local story (that required in-bar reporting, no less), and to the women of Your Vote, On the Rocks.
